More power would make the Scottish parliament more accountable: Purvis

5.48.47pm BST (GMT +0100) Wed 14th Jul 2010

Commenting on the Policy Exchange report, The Devolution Distraction, Liberal Democrat Finance spokesman Jeremy Purvis said:

“Policy Exchange have missed the point here.

“Granting more powers to the Scottish Parliament would make it more accountable, as it would have to raise its own funds through taxation.

“But with this SNP Government there has been more navel-gazing than ever before.

“Alex Salmond’s flawed independence referendum plan is wasting time that could be spent getting Scotland back on the road to financial recovery.”
